Christmas 2019

I had the best Christmas with my family this year!  We had our traditional cinnamon rolls and orange juice and then spent most of the morning opening presents.  We take turns opening presents, one at a time, starting from the youngest (Sean) to the oldest (my Mom).
Santa Claus really came through this year!  I got an Instant Pot (I have vowed that I will use it), some new Dr. Martens boots (Sean mentioned that I get a pair every year), a bunch of my favorite Alfred Hitchcock movies on Blu-ray because I got rid of all my copies on VHS (Sean mentioned that I am the only person in the world who has physical copies of movies any more), and a season subscription to Broadway Las Vegas.
My sister made everyone a blanket with our names embroidered on them (she recently got an embroidery machine for her business).  We opened them at the same time and they were a really big hit!
Tashena got a new iPhone with a case and some new clothes.
Sean was a very happy boy because he got a PlayStation VR and some games.  He has been waiting and waiting for Christmas to come so he could play with it!  We will never see him again!  After opening presents most of us took naps until our big Christmas dinner.  After dinner we played cards and then Marilyn, Kristine, and I went to see the movie Little Women which we all absolutely loved (review coming soon).  It was a wonderful Christmas!

Thanksgiving 2019

Yesterday my family celebrated Thanksgiving and it was such a fun day!  My Mom, Marilyn, Tashena (she is home from college for the weekend and it is so good to see her), and I went out in the snow to see Frozen II in the afternoon and I loved it even more the second time!  They really liked it, too!
After the movie we had the traditional Thanksgiving dinner including both turkey and ham, cheesy potatoes, sweet potatoes, stuffing, pomegranate salad, rolls, and a relish tray.  Everything tasted so good!  Here are the usual awkward photos that I get every year because my family won't cooperate.  You're welcome!
After dinner we all took a little nap and then played our favorite card game, Shanghai rummy!  Tashena won (but I came in second place).  After cards we had pie and then Marilyn, Tashena, and I went to see Frozen II yet again (because we are crazy).  It is so much fun going to movies late at night and we were quite giddy by the time we got home!  I really enjoyed spending time with my family yesterday and I am so glad that they are all as crazy as I am!  I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving with family and friends doing the things you love!

Easter Eggs

It has been quite a while since we have colored Easter eggs but Sean was really looking forward to doing it this year (he called me twice because I was three minutes late).  It was actually a lot of fun!
After coloring eggs we tried to have a BBQ but it rained almost all day!  Eventually my brother in law went outside and cooked the hamburgers and hotdogs and we ate everything inside.  It still tasted delicious!  In the evening we played Shanghai rummy which was really fun, as always!  I hope you had a lovely Easter filled with family and traditions!

Christmas 2018

Yesterday my family celebrated Christmas together and it was one of the best holidays we've ever had!  It was a wonderful day and it began with opening presents.  I was given strict instructions to be at my parents' house at 8:00 am and, of course, when I got there we still had to wait for Sean and Tashena!
According to tradition we all take turns opening one present at a time, starting with the youngest (Sean) and working our way to the oldest (my Mom).  It is so much fun watching everyone open their presents, especially Sean and Tashena.
Tashena's big presents were some white Nike shoes to match the red ones that she got for her birthday (she needs shoes to match her home and away basketball uniforms), a backpack for all of her athletic gear, the nicest water bottle that I have ever seen, a hoodie, an electric blanket, and a bunch of smaller items.
Sean has lots of different gaming platforms and he got a bunch of new games for each of them.  He was so happy and he spent the rest of the day either downloading or playing games.
I got a new camera, AirPods, Seasons 1-3 of Mr. Robot on DVD (because I am a little bit obsessed with Rami Malek), the companion book and the soundtrack to Bohemian Rhapsody (because I am really obsessed with this movie), an initial necklace, and a new Kyle Korver jersey!

After opening presents, Marilyn and I went to see Mary Poppins Returns which was just delightful once again.  In the evening we had a wonderful dinner and then played another epic game of Shanghai rummy.  It was honestly the best day ever and I am so glad that I got to celebrate with my family!
